PETITION TO DELAY EFFECTIVE DATE OF PRESCREEN DISCLOSURE RULE DENIED

The Federal Trade Commission denied the petition submitted by the American Financial Services Association (“AFSA”) requesting that the FTC delay the effective date of Section 642.3(a) of the PreScreen Opt-Out Disclosure Rule. This provision requires that written prescreened offers of credit and insurance contain a notice of the right to opt out of receiving future prescreened offers, and sets forth specific requirements for the form of the notice. The Prescreen Disclosure Rule took effect August 1, 2005.
