California Extends Applicability of the Financing Law to Commercial Financing

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law Assembly Bill 2116, making the California Financing Law (“CFL”) applicable to “commercial financing.” The CFL, which has long applied to commercial loans, will now apply to other types of commercial financing as well. Most provisions of the bill take effect January 1, 2028.
